The "Short Blade" is a weapon carried by Altair, the protagonist of the third person action game "Assassin's Creed." Due to its size and speed, the short blade is useful in quickly dispatching enemies and draws less attention than the long sword. It is especially handy in the early parts of the game where enemies do not yet have very effective armor. While using the short blade Altair can still keep enemies at bay by making use of throwing knifes.
Press "Left" on the D-pad to select the short blade then press "Left" again to take it out. Press the "1" key on your keyboard for the PC version of the game.
Use the left analog stick ("WASD" keys on keyboard) to maneuver Altair close to your target. In order to use the short blade you must be within stabbing distance of your victim, otherwise Altair will automatically use the throwing knives.
Press the "Left Trigger" ("F" key for PC) to lock-on to your intended target. As long as you are locked on, the camera will focus on your victim and keep him in sight for an easier kill.
Hold down the "Right Trigger" button to put Altair into "high profile" mode then press the "X" button to attack with the short blade. Hold down the "Right Mouse" button in the PC version and "Left Click" to attack. Altair will use his short blade to quickly dispatch the enemy.
