Resin casting opens up a whole new world of art and craft possibilities. You can use resin alone or in combination with other materials like paper, fiberglass mat and even fresh flowers to make sculptures and jewelry. Polyester resin is often called clear casting resin, but it doesn't have to remain clear. You can buy colorants especially formulated to mix with clear casting resin, but it can be expensive and difficult to find. Acrylic paint offers an inexpensive, readily available alternative.
Step 1
Pour the casting resin into a clear plastic cup.

Add the catalyst to the resin according to the package directions.
Step 3
Scoop out a small portion of acrylic paint with a craft stick. For more opaque resin, use a pea-sized amount for every 1/4 cup of resin. For a tint that you can still see through, use a pea-sized amount for every 1/2 cup.
Step 4
Stir for 15 seconds to mix the paint into the resin.
Step 5
Pour the resin into your mold as you normally would.
Warning
Casting resin emits toxic fumes. Work outside or in a well-ventilated area, and wear a respirator if necessary.
