How to Send a Fax Without a Fax Number

Send a fax online without a fax number.

The days of using a fax machine to send faxes are all but outdated. You can now send facsimiles to anyone around the country online, without having to obtain a fax number. Using an online faxing service provider and your Internet connection, you can transmit faxes directly from your desktop computer without much effort.

Instructions

1. Scan the document(s) that you want to fax onto your computer using an external scanner. Save the document to your computer as a .PDF, .doc, .tif or .jpg file.

2. Visit an online faxing service website such as, Efax.com, Faxzero.com, or Rapidfax.com, and create an account if prompted to do so. Depending upon the website, you may be instructed to subscribe to a faxing plan.

3. Select the option to send a fax. Fill out the coversheet form with the recipient's name, fax number and address. Additionally, you can add a note as to the type of documents you are faxing and include your name and contact information on the form as well.

4. Click the option to upload your document(s) to the site. Click "Browse," and then select the document file that you want to fax. Click "Open" to upload the document.

5. Type the security code into the appropriate field (if applicable), and then click submit. Refresh the page until the status shows that your fax was successfully sent.

• If you select the option to send a free fax, an advertisement may appear on the coversheet of your fax documents.
