How to Answer a Tweet

Twitter is a social networking site that relies on a newsfeed to keep you updated on what your followers are doing. It also provides the ability to say whatever is on your mind within a limited amount of characters. Certain codes allow users to tag other Twitter accounts in a status update, which then appears in that user's newsfeed. If someone tags you, you can reply to the tweet by including the alternate user's name, which will appear in that person's newsfeed rather than as a general status update.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your Internet browser and log in to your Twitter account (see Resources).

    • 2

Locate the tweet you wish to respond to, and click "Reply" underneath the tweet.

    • 3

Enter your response in the blank message field, and click "Tweet" to send the response to the other Twitter user. Once sent, the response appears with "@username" at the front of your tweet to tag the user.

    • 4

Click the "Mentions" tab to view replies to your tweet messages.
