How to Supplement Eggshell Powder

How to Supplement Eggshell Powder thumbnail
The eggs you use should only come from free-range birds.

Most people believe they get enough calcium from dairy products. That may not be the case. Pasteurization depletes calcium even as it makes dairy products safe for consumption. Eggshell powder can be used as a natural calcium supplement. Choose eggs from birds that are fed organic diets and raised on free-range farms that don't use chemicals, antibiotics or genetic medication.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash the eggshells gently with warm water. Remove the yokes, but don't scrape the inside of the shells.

    • 2

Boil the eggshells for five minutes. Lay them on a paper towel to dry.

    • 3

Use a coffee mill to grind the dried eggshells. Store in a sealed glass jar.

    • 4

Add a half-teaspoon of the eggshell powder to a beverage or on top of food.

    • 5

Supplement the eggshell powder with Vitamin D3. This vitamin helps your body use the calcium in the eggshell powder more effectively.
