How to Activate a Wireless Connection for a Dell Inspiron E1705

Press and hold the laptop's "FN" key. Tap the "F2" key with the "FN" key still held down to turn on the Inspiron's wireless network adapter. If the message "Wireless Network Disabled" appears on the screen, it means your adapter was already turned on. Tap the key combination again to turn on the adapter again.

Navigate to the "Start" menu and click the "Control Panel" link. Double-click the "Network Connections" icon.

Locate the icon labeled "Wireless Network Connection." Right-click the icon and select the "View Available Wireless Networks" option.

Check through the list of detected wireless networks and double-click the name of the network. If the network is password protected, type the password in the text box and click "Connect."

If you have installed Windows 7 on your Inspiron E1705, the method for connecting to a network will be slightly different. Click the networking icon in the notification tray at the lower-right corner of the desktop. Scroll up through the listed networks and click the name of the network you need to use. Click the "Connect" button.
