If you want to add a handmade touch to your next dinner party, then consider making paper lotus pods. This is an ideal craft to make for an outdoor garden party. You can mix in your paper lotus pods with other paper flowers in vases and use the vases as centerpieces along long tables. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Computer paper
  • Computer
  • Lotus pod printout
  • Scissors
  • Green card stock, two different shades
  • Pencil
  • Jewelry wire
  • Craft wire cutters
  • Masking tape
  • Glue stick

Instructions

    • 1

      Print out a lotus pod template from a website such as Floral Pages.

      Cut out the lotus pod shape with a pair of scissors.

      Trace the lotus pod cutout twice on a piece of green card stock.

      Cut out the green lotus pod.

    • 5

      Cut a 6-inch piece of jewelry wire or other metal wire with a pair of craft wire cutters.

      Tape the wire stem behind one of the lotus pods. Swipe the back of the lotus pod with a glue stick. Put the second lotus pod over the glue and press down.

      Cut small circles out of the remaining sheet of light green card stock. Your circles need not be uniform or perfect. The different, free-form shapes add character to the lotus pod. Swipe the back of the circles with a glue stick and place at random on the lotus pod face. Make sure to cover both sides of the lotus pod with the circles.

      Place your lotus pod in a vase.
