Find a web host that fits your needs and is within your price range. Choose between hosts that require a lot of HTML coding by hand, or ones that offer alternatives including a website builder, or content management systems such as Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla. Design your website to reflect the age group and contents of your jokes. Use primary colors such as red, yellow and blue if your target audience is children under the age of 10 or something a little more intimate such as a mix of reds, pinks and black for an adult-targeted site.

Use a font throughout your site that's easy on the eyes. Avoid using fancy fonts that may not display properly on some computers. Use fonts such as Arial, Georgia or Times New Roman which come installed on most computers. Pick a pleasing font color that doesn't clash with your background or layout colors. Include a "submissions" button on the front page of your site or within the sidebar so visitors can submit ideas or jokes. When you start getting submissions, be sure before approving them to check for duplication of what has already been posted on the site. Credit the author of the joke if it's known.

Pick out fun clipart images to create a personality for your site. Use the images in areas such as your "submissions" button, the site's header or even use them to compliment the jokes.
