Missionary work is a way for the story of Jesus to be passed on to other cultures and religions. Missionaries dedicate their life to Jesus and spreading his gospel. Missionaries are on a mission, a mission of God. Joining a church missionary effort takes thoughtfulness and dedication.

  Enhance your spiritual and personal relationship with God and Jesus. Before you are able to join a church mission, you need to have a strong bond with God and his son. You must know that God wants you to share his word with others, and that you have a calling to do his work.

  Understand the truths of the Bible. The Bible was written to share God's word. Make sure before you join a mission, that you completely understand the Bible. You want to be able to share the word and also answer any questions that people may have. Your No. 1 priority during your mission is to teach the truth.

Missionaries are often doctors, builders, nurses, pilots, and the list goes on and on. Make a list of your skills and how you can use your skills to serve God, then pick the mission that best fits your skills.

  Make peace with how you are called to serve. When you decide on a mission, you need to be willing to leave your family, your home and maybe even your country. Know and trust in God and serve how you are called to serve.

  Prepare yourself to sacrifice. As a missionary, you will be making the ultimate sacrifice to God and Jesus. You will be his servant and do whatever you are called to do. This may include cleaning toilets, cleaning houses or messes, playing instruments, taking people to the hospital, and many more services. Become the servant you were meant to become.
