How to Insert a PowerPoint Into Movie Maker
The line between presentation, slideshow and video has begun to blur. Presentation software like PowerPoint can produce a slideshow, while video editing software like Movie Maker can, too. Sometimes, a combination of video and slideshow is desirable, or adding a presentation to a video, and PowerPoint makes it quite easy to accomplish. In fact, PowerPoint offers several solutions.
Instructions
-
Export the Slideshow as JPGs
-
1
Save the PowerPoint presentation in JPG format. When you click "Save As," scroll down through the format choices until you find either JPG, PNG or GIF. PowerPoint automatically saves each slide as an image file.
-
2
Import the new JPGs into your Movie Maker project. Go to "File," then "Import Media Items" and browse to the location where you saved them. Movie Maker will import the slides as image clips and place them in the "Collections" window with your video clips.
-
-
3
Drag the images from the Images window onto the movie timeline. Once they appear on the timeline, you can set times on each of them, add text and more.
-
4
Add transitions between each slide. In the transitions panel, drag the transition(s) you want between each image clip on the timeline.
-
5
Add a voiceover or a musical background to the series of slides.

Tips & Warnings
PowerPoint 2003 and 2007 do not allow the direct export into WMV format, so you will have to use the other method. Another alternative is to use one of the several online tools -- Slideshare, Moyea, and even YouTube -- that will allow you to convert your .PPT file if you are satisfied with an FLV as your outcome.
If you export the slides as JPGs, you will lose animations. There is no way around this loss.
