How to Broadcast Your Screen on Ustream
Ustream is a video-streaming website that allows users to stream video and audio broadcasts over the Internet for free. Using connected or embedded webcams and microphones, users broadcast live video that can be watched by other people online. The person administering the broadcast has full control over what the audience sees and hears. There may come a point in the broadcast where users wants to show their computer and its display. Use an external webcam or webcam-effects software to broadcast a screen on Ustream.

Connect an external webcam to the computer. Insert the rectangular end of the webcam into one of the computer's external USB ports.

Open Ustream's official website (see Resources). Click the "Login" link in the top right portion of the screen. In the space provided, enter the user name and password that correspond with your account and click the yellow "Login" button.

Click the "Go Live!" button, also in the top right portion of the screen. Select the "Create" button in the new pop-up window to create a new broadcast. Click "Yes" when the "Adobe Flash Player Settings" window appears to allow Ustream to use the connected external webcam. Click "Start Broadcast" to begin streaming live.

Move the external webcam until its lens is facing the computer's screen. The Ustream broadcast will display the computer screen. If needed, adjust the lens to make sure the computer screen is as clear and sharp as possible.

Run a webcam-effects application on the computer. ManyCam, WebCamMax and ScreenStream are applications capable of broadcasting the computer screen. After downloading and installing the application, open it before opening the Ustream broadcaster.

Select the option titled "Desktop" from the webcam-effects application's Video Sources menu. If available, choose between broadcasting the full screen or "Select Capture Area" or something similar to broadcast only part of the screen.

Open the Ustream broadcaster and begin broadcasting (see Section 1 for instructions). Ensure that the webcam-effects software is selected in Ustream's "Video Sources" drop-down menu.
