How to Get More Places in the Safari Zone in "Pokemon SoulSilver"
In "Pokemon SoulSilver" the Safari Zone is a special area located west of Cianwood City where you can find many different Pokemon that you wouldn't normally encounter in the region. Initially, there are only six areas in the Safari Zone, but as you progress through the game, you can unlock new areas by completing the first part of the Owner Aptitude Challenge that is issued to you by Baoba --- the Safari Warden.

Enter the Safari Zone lobby and talk to Baoba. He will challenge you to take the Owner Aptitude test. The first part of the Owner Aptitude Test requires you to catch a Geodude in the Safari Zone and bring it back to show Baoba.

Enter the Safari Zone. You will receive 30 Safari Balls that you can use to catch any Pokemon you encounter. When you run out of Safari Balls, your Safari session is over.

Find a Geodude by walking around the tall grass of the first area in the Safari Zone until you encounter one.

Throw bait or mud. Although you are unable to use your Pokemon to weaken the Geodude in the Safari Zone, you still have a couple options at your disposal to aid in its capture. During each Pokemon encounter, you can choose to either throw Bait or Mud. Throwing Bait makes Pokemon harder to catch but less likely to run. Throwing Mud makes Pokemon easier to catch but more likely to run.

Catch the Geodude by throwing a Safari Ball at it. If the Geodude is unable to break free from the Safari Ball, you will capture it and it will be transferred to Bill's PC (or placed in your Pokemon party if you have an open spot). If the Geodude breaks free and runs away, you will have to find another one and try again.

Retrieve the Geodude from Bill's PC and place it in your Pokemon Party once you've captured one.

Talk to Baoba and show him the Geodude you caught to complete the first challenge of the Owner Aptitude Test.

Leave the Safari Zone and continue adventuring. After awhile, you'll receive a call from Baoba inviting you to take part in the second challenge of the Owner Aptitude Test, which requires you to capture a Sandshrew.

Revisit the Safari Zone and talk to Baoba. He will inform you of a new feature that allows you to customize the different areas in the Safari Zone.

Use the computer located near the entrance to the Safari Zone to swap out old areas in the Safari Zone for new areas you haven't yet explored. When you're finished, leave the computer and enter the newly customized Safari Zone.
