How to Change Your Relationship Status on Facebook Using a Cell Phone

Change your relationship status quickly on a smartphone.

Whether you want to share your good relationship news with your Facebook friends or give them reason to lament your newly single status, you do not need to find a computer and log in to your account to update your relationship status. With the built-in Web browser on your smartphone, you can change your relationship status on the mobile browser version of Facebook. You can also use the free Facebook app, available for iPhones, Android phones and Windows phones.

Web Browser

Step 1

Open your phone's Web browser and go to facebook.com. Type your username and password if prompted to do so.

Step 2

Tap the menu button, which consists of three parallel lines, in the top left corner, and then tap your profile name.

Step 3

Scroll down to the "Update Info" button and tap it.

Step 4

Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap "Edit Profile."

Step 5

Scroll down to the Relationship section and tap "Edit." You will see your relationship status at the top of the page.

Step 6

Tap on "Relationship Status" and select a new status from the drop-down list.

Step 7

Tap "Save" to complete your status change.

Mobile App

Step 1

Open the Facebook app.

Step 2

Tap the menu button in the top left corner of the screen and select your profile name.

Step 3

Scroll to the "Update Info" button, located below the "Write Post" and "Share Photo" buttons and tap it.

Step 4

Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap the "Edit Profile" link.

Step 5

Scroll to the relationship section and tap the button that displays your current relationship status.

Step 6

Tap on your current relationship status and select a new one.

Step 7

Tap "Save" to save your new relationship status.
