PDF to Flash Conversion

In the alphabet-soup world of computing, file extensions form one of the biggest sets of acronyms. Converting and saving files means wading through an array of extensions, including PDF for portable document format files and FLA for Adobe Flash files. Fortunately, going from PDF to FLA takes just a few clicks, and you'll be able to add a PDF to a Flash file and resave the document in that format.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Adobe Flash. Click the "Flash Document" link under the "Create New Column" on the opening screen.

    • 2

Scroll the red timeline selector to the place in the timeline to add the PDF, right-click and select "Insert Blank Keyframe." Alternately, to add the PDF directly to the first keyframe, leave the stage and timeline as they appear.

    • 3

Click the "File" menu. Click "Import" and select "Import to Stage" from the fly-out menu.

    • 4

Browse to the PDF location on the computer and double-click the file name. Leave the buttons and boxes on the "Import Options" window as their defaults and click the "OK" button. Depending on the size of the PDF, it may take a few moments to import.

    • 5

Click the "File" menu. Select "Save As." Enter a name for the Flash file and click the "Save" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adding a PDF to an existing Flash file works the same way. Open the existing file by clicking the "Open" link on the splash screen, browsing to the file and double-clicking its name. Scroll to the section of the timeline to add the PDF. If a keyframe is already present, simply click it and follow the instructions. Otherwise, add the keyframe as noted here and follow the rest of the instructions.
