Troubleshooting: I Cannot Get a Live Stream

By Charles Poole

Internet devices use live streams to watch live events through their Internet connection. The Internet connection is the most important part of the live stream. If you're running several programs on your computer while the stream is happening, the stream will be laggy or may not work at all. The stream is also dependent on your connectivity. Having enough bandwidth for a live stream will yield the best results. You can troubleshoot these issues yourself with little hassle.

Go to the back of your computer and make sure that the Ethernet cable is connected to the Ethernet port on your system. Make sure that your Ethernet cable is connected to the router or cable modem in your home.

Right click on the "Network" icon on your computer's "Control Panel." Click on the "Diagnose and Repair" icon form the menu. Wait for the computer to scan your system and diagnose the problem. The computer will also repair the problem and initiate a reset.

Reset your router. Go to the back of the router and locate the "Reset" button. Use a toothpick or a pen to press the "Reset" button. Connect to the Internet after the router has been restored to factory settings.

Reset your modem. Unplug the power cable from your cable modem and wait 10 seconds. Plug the power cable back into the cable modem and wait for the modem to reconnect to the Internet.

Try to connect to the live stream from another computer. If you can connect, consult a repair technician to get your system fixed.
