How to Make Popcorn Wrappers

Whether your children are having a movie night with their friends or you're planning a family film evening, popcorn is essential. Create your own popcorn wrappers to make your guests feel like they are at the movies. Making basic popcorn wrappers is very simple, and you can even customize them for each person.

Things You'll Need

  • Standard 8 1/2-by-11-inch cardstock
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Colored pencils and pens
  • Glue
  • Download a popcorn wrapper template or design your own.

  • Cut out this template using the scissors.

  • Place the cut-out template over a piece of cardstock and trace around the edge using a pencil. Alternately, you can use paper, but cardstock is better for the boxes as it is more ridged.

  • Repeat this process for as many holders as required.

  • Add a colorful design to the sides of the wrapper using colored pens, pencils or other arts and crafts supplies.

  • Fold the boxes along the template lines and make a firm crease on all of the folds and joints.

  • Apply a few dabs of glue to each of the flaps around the square base and on the long tab on the left hand side. Not much glue will be required, as the box does not need to be watertight.

  • Leave the glued boxes to dry. Depending on the brand of glue, this should not take very long.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get all the family involved in making these popcorn wrappers.
  • These are not just for popcorn; they can be used to hold all of your favorite movie snacks.
  • Never let young children use scissors or glue unsupervised.
