Magic tricks are a fun way to entertain people and show off your sleight of hand techniques. Bending a coin is a popular, but easy-to-execute bit of magic. In order to successfully accomplish the magic coin-bending trick, you will need agile hands and plenty of practice. This is a good trick for beginner magicians or those who simply want to develop a new party trick.

• 2 coins
• 2 pliers

Instructions

1. Examine both coins carefully and make sure they look as identical as possible. They must have the same year and style to make the trick more convincing.

2. Bend one coin by clipping both sides with pliers and bending. A slight bend will be easier to work with.

3. Tuck the bent coin in between your ring and pinky fingers in your right hand. If this is uncomfortable, grip the coin in the grooves of your palm. Practice naturally moving your right hand. The coin should remain comfortably secure.

4. Show the audience the regular penny and invite them to examine it to make sure it is real.

5. Hold the regular penny with your thumbs and index fingers and try to bend it. Begin flicking the coin with your the fingers on your right hand. Tell the audience that the flicking helps weaken the metal.

6. When you are finished flicking the coin, quickly toss the coin into the right hand and switch out the regular coin for the bent coin. This should take only a fraction of a second.

7. Hold the coin between your thumb and index fingers, as you did in step 5. Be sure to cover the noticeably bent regions with your fingers. Begin trying to bend the coin again, and reveal that it has worked.
