How to Disable Typing Animations in Yahoo! Messenger

Yahoo! Messenger has many features to enhance online chatting, including voice chat, games, video chat, emoticons and Audibles. Emoticons, also known as smiley faces, are animated faces used to express feelings and add personality to your instant messages. Another feature included in Yahoo! Messenger is Audibles, which are animated talking characters that you can insert in an instant message for humor or entertainment. If your computer does not contain the proper hardware to support animations in your instant messages, disabling the features can prevent technical issues, such as freezing, lagging and unexpected errors on your computer or Yahoo! Messenger.

Instructions

1. Open Yahoo! Messenger and sign into your account.

2. Click the "Messenger" button at the top of your Yahoo! Messenger.

3. Click "Preferences," and click "Messages" from the left column.

4. Uncheck the "Enable Emoticons" box if you want to disable Yahoo! emoticons.

5. Uncheck the "Enable Audibles" box if you want to disable Yahoo! Audibles.

6. Click the "Apply" button to apply the new settings, and click "OK" to close the Preferences dialog box.

Tips & Warnings

• Disabling these features prevents you from sending and receiving Audibles and emoticons.
