How to File a DOI Complaint Online in Florida
If you feel you've been treated poorly by an insurance provider in Florida and have been unable to resolve the issue by dealing with the company directly, you can submit a complaint to the Florida Department of Financial Services which will investigate your claims. Your insurance company will be contacted and asked to provide a response to your complaint. If any insurance law has been violated, your provider will be asked to take corrective action. The process for submitting a complaint is quick and straightforward.

Collect all of the information you'll need to submit your complaint: the full name of the insurance provider; your policy number; and any claim number. You'll also need to provide a detailed description of the circumstances that have resulted in your compliant.

Navigate to the consumer help pages on the Florida Department of Financial Services website, and click on "How do I file a request for insurance assistance?" On the next page, click "Request insurance assistance."

Click on the "Next" button at the bottom of the page to begin lodging your complaint.

Create an account by filling in your personal information. Complete the information on your insurance provider and the claim or policy you're complaining about. Make sure the information you provide is accurate and as detailed as possible before submitting your service request. Complaints submitted with inaccuracies or missing information will take longer to process.

Log into your email account after you've filed your complaint. The Department of Financial Services will have sent you an email with your service request number and instructions on how to submit any supporting documentation.

Upload any supporting documents as directed, and wait for a response. Your insurer will have 20 days to respond to your complaint.
