Creating the Fang Costume
-
1
Start with the basic elements of the costume. Purchase a black sports bra and black spandex volleyball shorts.
-
2
Create the sash by folding the 1.5-yard piece of blue fabric in half lengthwise, print side of fabric facing in. Sew the length of the fabric and turn right side out. Sew the two ends of the fabric together.
-
-
3
Pin the white and blue trim along the edges of the sash and stitch it on once the pins are in place. Remove the pins. Pin the top left portion of the sash to the black sports bra using a safety pin to ensure the sash will stay in place when moving.
-
4
Measure the length of the back of the skirt with a tape measure. Place the tape measure at the waist and measure down to the ankles of the costume wearer. Cut one panel of blue fabric to this length.
-
5
Measure the front of the skirt with a tape measure by placing the tape measure at the waist of the costume wearer and measuring down to the thighs. Cut one panel of blue fabric to this length.
-
6
Create a waistband in each panel by folding the fabric at the top over to the backside of the panel. Pin the fabric and stitch a seam.
-
7
Attach a safety pin at the end of a piece of elastic a little longer than the waist circumference of the costume wearer. Thread the elastic through the front and back panel waistbands. Stitch the elastic ends together.
-
8
Slide the front of the skirt over to the side so one thigh is exposed. Hem the skirt bottom by pinning the edge of the fabric under. Stitch along the pins so there is a neat edge to the skirt and not frayed ends.
-
9
Pin the white and blue trim along the edges of the skirt. Stitch along the pins of the skirt until the trim is fully secured. Remove the pins.
-
10
Accessorize with brown knee-high boots, a brown belt with an imitation animal pelt dangling from it, a temporary black tattoo on the upper arm and black wrist cuffs. The costume wearer can also hold a red spear.
-
11
Finish the costume by pulling the costume wearer's hair back in a half ponytail and securing it with a black hairband. Spray hairspray in the hair for added messy texture like Fang's style.

Tips & Warnings
Hem the skirt to a length with the costume wearer feels comfortable. It does not have to expose the thigh.
If the costume wearer chooses to carry a spear, be sure it is only a plastic toy spear.
