How to Get Rid of the OpenDNS Guide
OpenDNS is a company which allows users to use its Domain Name System (DNS) servers instead of its Internet Service Provider's (ISP). The role of a DNS server is to translate a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) address into an Internet Protocol (IP) address which your computer can query. OpenDNS offers both paid and free services. The free OpenDNS service has a Guide feature which automatically redirects users to an OpenDNS search-result page when they misspell a URL address. The search-result page contains advertisements which help OpenDNS maintain its servers. You can disable this feature by either upgrading your account or removing OpenDNS altogether.

To Upgrade Your Account

Visit the "Choose a plan" page on the OpenDNS website (see Resources).

Click on the "Buy now" button under the "OpenDNS Deluxe" plan. Choose a payment method and type in your credit card or online payment service details.

Visit your OpenDNS dashboard after upgrading your account to a Deluxe account (see Resources).

Click on your IP address and then select "Advanced Settings" in the left-hand pane. Click on the check boxes next to "Domain Typos" and "OpenDNS Proxy" to finish disabling the OpenDNS Guide. Click on "Save" to save your new settings.
To Remove OpenDNS

Click on the Network icon in the tray notification area of your Windows taskbar. Select "Open Network and Sharing Center."

Click on "Change adapter settings" in the left-hand pane.

Right-click on the network card which you normally use to connect to the Internet and select "Properties."

Click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)." Click on "Properties."

Select "Obtain DNS server address automatically." Click on "OK" to confirm your new settings. You will now start using your ISP's DNS servers again.
