You can make yourself a sexy backless shirt.

A backless shirt is a sexy way to show off some skin, and you can make one in a matter of minutes. It requires no seaming or shaping; if you can sew a straight line, you can make a backless shirt. The fabric you choose can change the look of the top. Make a shirt out of silk and go out to a club. Make one out of a nice cotton and go out to lunch. You could even make a shirt out of spandex and go to the beach.

Lay the square in front of you with the wrong side facing up and turn it so it is diamond-shaped. Cut 2 inches off the top corner of the diamond.

    • 3

Fold the side corners in 1/2 inch. Place the end of one of the short pieces of ribbon on one of the folded corners, the length of the ribbon facing away from the diamond. Sew the ribbon in place using a sewing machine. Repeat with the other side corner.

    • 4

Fold the four diagonal edges of the diamond in 1/4 inch and then again another 1/4 inch. Sew the folded edges in place.

    • 5

Fold the top edge of the diamond down 1/4 inch and then fold it over 1/2 inch. Sew the fold in place close to the bottom edge of the fold, creating a channel.

    • 6

Pin a safety pin to the end of the long piece of ribbon and slide it through the channel you created. Remove the pin.

    • 7

Tie small knots in the ends of all of the ribbons. Use the ribbons to tie your backless shirt closed around you.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add beads or crystals to the ends of the ribbons before you tie the knots.
