The Super Nintendo is a classic console system with hundreds of games. A ROM is a digitized version of these games which players can run on their computer using a Super Nintendo emulator. In addition, they can patch the ROMs to implement new features or translate them into a different language. Several programmers have developed their own ROM patching software. Although these programs have slightly different interfaces, the overall process is the same for each one.

Instructions

  1. Lunar IPS

    • 1

      Click "Apply Patch."

    • 2

      Select the patch you want to use. It will have the ".ips" extension. Click "Open."

      Choose which ROM you want to apply it to. Click "Open." The program then patches your ROM.

    IPS XP

    • 4

      Click the first icon. Select the ROM you want to patch.

      Push the second icon. Select the patch you want to use. It has the ".ips" extension.

      Hit the third icon and "ips XP" will patch your ROM.

    IPSWin

    • 7

      Click the folder icon next to "File to Patch." Select the ROM you want to patch.

      Push the folder icon next to "IPS Patch to Use." Select the patch you want to apply. It has the ".ips" extension.

    • 9

      Hit the "Patch!" button. "IPSWin" will patch your ROM.

  • You can find hundreds of Super Nintendo ROM patches on the Internet. The database at Romhacking Dot Net is the most complete on the Web and you can readily use it to search for translations and hacks.
