How to Transfer Mail to Another Account and Delete a Gmail Email Account

If you are unhappy with Google's email service Gmail, you can permanently delete it from your Google Account. Deleting your Gmail email account may be a concern if you are worried about losing important email messages stored on Gmail's server. By transferring your email to another email account, you can back up the messages you want to keep and still delete your Gmail account.

Instructions

  1. Transfer Mail

      Go to Gmail.com to log into your Gmail email account.

      Click on the email that you want to transfer to open it.

      Click the "Forward" button at the bottom of the email.

      Enter the email address where you want to send the email in the "To" field.

      Click the "Send" button to transfer a copy of the email from your Gmail email account to your other email account.

      Repeat steps 2 through 5 to transfer all of the email messages.

    Delete Gmail Email Account

      Click on your email address at the top of Gmail and select "Account Settings" from the drop-down menu.

      Click the "Edit" link in the My Products section.

      Click "Remove Gmail Permanently" in the Delete a Product section.
