How to Change the Default to View Pictures in Photoshop on a Mac OS thumbnail
You can use Adobe Photoshop to open all picture files on a Mac computer.

By default, a Mac running OS X 10.5 or later is programmed to open all image files with the Apple Preview application. However, users can control this action and choose a different default program for pictures. For example, you can set up your Mac computer to use the Adobe Photoshop program when viewing picture files in the JPEG format. Default application settings will only apply to the computer's current user.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Finder" icon in the dock.

    • 2

Right-click on any picture file on your local hard drive and choose "Get Info" from the contextual menu.

    • 3

Expand the triangle icon next to "Open With."

    • 4

Open the drop-down menu and choose "Adobe Photoshop." If you do not see Photoshop in the list of programs, select the "Other" option and then double-click on it from the expanded list.

    • 5

      Press the "Change All" button.

    • 6

Click "Continue" to confirm your decision to change the default picture viewing program on your computer to Adobe Photoshop.
