How to Link SlideShare to Your LinkedIn Account

How to Link SlideShare to Your LinkedIn Account thumbnail
Enhance your LinkedIn profile by linking your LinkedIn and SlideShare accounts.

If you use LinkedIn for professional networking and SlideShare for sharing presentations, linking the two sites can enhance your LinkedIn profile with content that attracts potential employers and clients. Installing the SlideShare Presentations application on LinkedIn enables you to display your SlideShare presentations on your LinkedIn profile and homepage. For example, you could display PowerPoint slides from a recent conference presentation to demonstrate your expertise or display a presentation that highlights your professional background and credentials.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign in to LinkedIn using your email address and password.

    • 2

Select "Get More Applications" from the "More" drop-down list on the top navigation bar.

    • 3

Click the "SlideShare Presentations" link on the Applications page. LinkedIn displays applications at random on this page, so you might need to scroll down the page to find this link.

    • 4

Click the "Add Application" button to install the SlideShare Presentations application. By default, the "Display on My Profile" and "Display on LinkedIn Homepage" check boxes are selected. These options offer the most visibility for your SlideShare presentations on LinkedIn. If you don't want to use the default settings, deselect one or both check boxes before clicking the "Add Application" button.

    • 5

Enter your SlideShare user name and password, and click the "Link Account" button. The application prompts you to upgrade to SlideShare Pro. Click the "Skip" link if you want to bypass the paid option.

    • 6

Click the "App Settings" link to open the Settings page.

    • 7

Specify your display, network update and email settings, and click the "Save" button. By default, LinkedIn shows the complete SlideShare player on your profile, which displays your most recent SlideShare presentation. Optionally, you can choose to display from two to six thumbnails if you want to feature multiple presentations.

Tips & Warnings

  • SlideShare is best known for sharing presentations, but you can also share PDF documents. This is useful if you want to display a resume, portfolio or brochure on your LinkedIn profile.

  • To display a video on your LinkedIn profile, embed a YouTube video into one of your SlideShare presentations.

  • You can also upload presentations and documents directly in LinkedIn. The SlideShare Presentations application synchronizes these uploaded files with your SlideShare account.
