How to Draw a Joker Step-by-Step

The joker is featured on playing cards and is one of the menacing, evil-doing characters featured in the Batman movies and comics. The movie character and the card face are both known for their pale white skin and devious smile. Drawing a joker of any kind can be a challenge for even an experienced artist. You can draw the face or the complete body of your joker depending on your desires.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a circle for the head and a circle for the body. Add facial and neck guidelines by drawing one line down the center of the face circle vertically that extends to the body circle. Draw two horizontal lines in the face. The two horizontal lines should be one above the other with the top line at the halfway mark of the vertical line. Draw leg lines on either side of the bottom of the body circle.

    • 2

Sketch the eyebrows starting from the top horizontal line. Add the eyes just below the eyebrow.

    • 3

Draw the long broad nose. The nose should be wide near the face and narrow as it extends. Start the nose just below and center of the eyes.

    • 4

Draw a pointed shape to create the high cheekbones and angle down the face to create the squared chin.

    • 5

Sketch the jester hat by drawing four stems from the top of the head with bells on the ends.

    • 6

Add an ear to one side of the head and the smile open mouth smile beneath the nose.

    • 7

Draw a vertical line from the center of the body circle to the bottom and add two diamonds on either side of the line.

    • 8

Draw two lines on either side of the leg lines to create the full leg, and add pointy clown shoes for the feet. Place bells on the points to complete the shoes. Erase the original lines to clean up the picture, and take care not to erase the body.
