How Do I Know if Recycled Paper Will Work in My Copier?
With many individuals and businesses focusing on being more environmentally friendly, the use of recycled paper has become a popular way to minimize your impact on the environment. However, some copiers are not rated to run recycled paper, and doing so may void the warranty of your copier. Before trying recycled paper, finding out if your copier is rated for recycled paper can prevent issues later on.

1
Get a copy of the media guide for your make and model of copier. The media guide will detail all the types of paper that your particular model can use. Not all copiers have media guides. If your copier does not have a media guide, continue to the next steps.

2
Read your user's manual for accepted weights and types of paper that your copier can accept. Many manuals will state whether or not your copier can accept recycled paper.

3
Call your copier service provider and ask if using recycled paper will void your warranty. If you cannot get a media guide, and your user's manual does not clearly state that your copier can use recycled paper, getting a written note from your service provider will eliminate any potential warranty issues after using recycled paper. Also, your service provider may be able to make adjustments to your copier to accomodate for recycled paper.
