How to Install the Delta RP4993
Learning how to install the Delta RP4993 seat and spring kit will only take a few minutes. Replacing the Delta RP4993 kit in your faucet may take a little longer, about 30 to 45 minutes. Using original Delta faucet repair parts is always the best choice. After market and generic faucet parts are not always manufactured with the same stringent quality controls. - Phillips-tip screwdriver

Shut off the main water supply to the faucet, either at the individual fixture shut-offs underneath the sink, or at the water valve in your home.Turn the shut-off valve(s) counterclockwise until it stops. Open both hot-and cold-water handles on a two handle Delta faucet, open a single handle faucet to a warm setting; this will get rid of any water left in the faucet supply lines. Close off the tub or sink drain so you do not lose any small parts.

Remove the faucet handle(s) with a screwdriver if your Delta faucet has acrylic handles or a single plastic handle. Pop off the screw cover cap-index button with a flat tip screwdriver, and then the handle screw(s) with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the handle off the faucet cartridge stem by hand. If your Delta faucet has one or two metal handles, you will need an Allen wrench to loosen the handle set screws in order to remove them.

Unscrew the cartridge or stem retaining nut(s). Remove the Delta faucet cartridge(s) with pliers. Lift the Delta RP4993 seals and springs out of the faucet body with your screwdriver or Allen wrench.

Install your new Delta RP4993 seal and spring repair kit. An easy way to install the kit is to slide the rubber seal on to a small screwdriver or Allen wrench; small open end first. Slide the metal spring up on the small end of the tool first. Carefully lower the tool into the faucet body and let the spring and seal slide down into the faucet. You may need to work the rubber seal into position with your fingers. Do not poke the seal with tools, because you could damage the rubber seal.

Reinstall the rest of the Delta faucet parts in the order you removed them.

Remove the aerator from the end of the faucet spout. Turn the faucet handle(s) to their on positions. Turn the water supply back on to the faucet and let the water flow for a few seconds before turning the faucet off. Replace the aerator and inspect the faucet for leaks or drips.

Tips & Warnings
Always use plumber's silicone lubricant when repairing any faucet. It will help prevent premature wear and resists mineral buildup.
Do no use pliers to unscrew the bonnet nut on a single handle faucet; you will ruin the finish.
