Indiana unemployment claimants file weekly claim vouchers with the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) to certify they are still eligible to receive benefits. During the process, you report any income earned that week, your availability and whether you searched for a job. Information submitted through this process must be truthful to the best of your knowledge under penalty of the law. So, if you make a mistake with your answers, it’s important to correct it as soon as possible. You can do so by calling the claims helpline and speaking to a live agent.

Call the claims center at 800-891-6499 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Select the option to speak to a live claims agent. Verify your personal information with the agent, including your name, contact information and Social Security number.

Explain that you made a mistake inputting information on your weekly claims voucher. Describe the incorrect information so the agent can note or make the necessary changes.

  • You also can go to your local WorkOne Center during its business hours to correct your claim voucher (see Resources).
  • Contact the state to correct information as soon as you realize the mistake you made to avoid any incorrect claim processing.
  • If you haven't submitted the information, there is a stage at the end of the process that allows you to review your answers and correct them before sending them to the state. With that, there is no need to call the claims center.
  • If you fail to correct a mistake you made while filing your weekly claim voucher, you are responsible for any overpayment in benefits that results from it.
