My Norton 360 Auto-Protect Won't Turn On

By Jordan Baughman

Norton Antivirus software provides system security for your computer; however, the program can and will malfunction from time to time. Since Norton must become so deeply ingrained into your computer's operating system, system processes will sometimes interfere with one another and cause issues, such as your "Auto-Protect" feature not functioning. Symantec claims that there is no single reason that these malfunctions occur, but there is a solution for the problem.

Fixing Auto-Protect

Left-click on your "Start" menu and open the "Control Panel."

Double-click the "User Accounts" icon to open it.

Open "Manage changes to your account" and open "Turn User Account Control on or off."

Left-click on the "Continue" button.

Disable the "User Account Control" option by clicking on the box to the right.

Choose the option to restart your computer.

Run the "Auto-Fix" tool located in the references section below.

Restart your computer after the tool has finished running to resolve your "Auto-Protect" bug.

Return to your "Start" menu and open the "Control Panel."

Open the "User Accounts" icon and return to "Manage changes to your account."

Access the "Turn User Account Control on or off" option and enable "User Account Control Protection."

Select "OK" and then restart your computer one last time.
