How to Block an Acrylic Wool Blend
Blocking is the process of finishing a knitting project by wetting or steaming it, then shaping it. The item will dry and take whatever shape you have blocked it into. Blocking will smooth wrinkles introduced during the making of the item, even out seams and make the piece look neater. You cannot wet block acrylic-wool blends because the heat will ruin the acrylic. Lightly steam block a project made from an acrylic-wool blend.

1
Lay the acrylic-wool piece out on the blocking board. Match the blocking board measurements of the piece to the measurements in the pattern to make sure the piece is the right size. If it is too small, gently stretch it to the right size.
-
2
Place the t-pins through the edges of the fabric and into the board. Place one pin every 1 to 2 inches.

3
Heat up your steam iron to the lowest possible steam setting. Hold the iron 1 inch above the acrylic-wool piece. Do not let the iron touch the work or it will melt the acrylic in the yarn.
-
4
Pat the fabric as you feel it become damp. Pat out any wrinkles and smooth the creases or edges. When the spot is damp, move the iron along the fabric slowly, smoothing the yarn as you go. Continue until the entire garment is smooth and damp.

5
Leave the work on the blocking board until it is completely dry, which may take up to 8 hours. Remove the t-pins.
