How to Edit My Proxy Server in Vista

How to Edit My Proxy Server in Vista thumbnail
Web proxies usually do not improve the performance of large file downloads.

Proxy servers can increase Internet access performance, provide firewall services, outbound limits for security and anonymity for users that value their privacy. The Internet Explorer browser included with Microsoft Vista features proxy server support for both a main proxy server and proxy servers for individual protocols. Configure proxy server settings in Vista by using the Internet Options configuration tool in Internet Explorer.

Things You'll Need

  • IP address of the proxy server for the network to which the Windows Vista computer is connected
  • IP address and port for services with proxy settings different than the primary proxy server
  • TCP port number supported by the proxy server
