The world of "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" is filled with obstacles and hidden treasures. To deal with these challenges, Mario, Luigi and the Toads will need every move in their repertoire, including the forward flip. This move, also known as the triple jump, lifts the character high into the air, but requires a lengthy run-up and precise timing.

Executing the Forward Flip

To forward flip, dash in the direction you want to jump. If you're using the Wii Remote alone, dash by pressing the D-pad together with the "1" button. If you're using the Nunchuk and remote combo, you'll run by pressing the analog stick together with the "Z" or "B" button. Press the jump button; this is the "2" button on the remote, or the "A" button if you're using the remote with the Nunchuck. At the moment the character lands from his jump, press the button again and then a third time at the end of the second jump. The third jump will be a high forward flip.

When to Use the Forward Flip

The forward flip can be very useful in situations where you need to reach a high target. For instance, it's a reliable way to get a high score or 1-Up by reaching the top of an end-of-world flag. It's also useful for clearing wide gaps, reaching high platforms or avoiding areas with lots of ground-based enemies.
