How to Put a Newsfeed on Facebook

RSS, which stands for Real Simple Syndication, is a Web technology that allows you to syndicate and republish content from one site to another. You can use RSS to generate content for your site by syndicating a site's feed into your posts. If you like to post interesting news stories to your Facebook account for your online friends, Twitterfeed is a free service that allows you to syndicate any newsfeed to your Facebook wall as a status update.

Instructions

    • 1

Copy the URL of the RSS feed to your clipboard. If the site has a text or image link to its RSS feed, right-click the link and select "Copy Shortcut" from the pop-up menu. Otherwise, click the orange RSS button in the browser bar, then highlight and copy the URL that appears.

    • 2

Visit the Twitterfeed website and register for a free account by clicking the "Register Now" button in the middle of the page. Enter your email address and password and type in the security code when prompted. Click the "Create Account" button beneath the form.

    • 3

Log in to your Twitterfeed account and click the "Create New Feed" button in the upper-left corner of the dashboard.

    • 4

Type a name for your feed in the "Name" field, and paste the newsfeed's URL into the "Blog URL or RSS Feed URL" field. If you want to ensure that you've entered the correct URL, click the "Test RSS Feed" button next to the URL field.

    • 5

Click "Advanced Options" to expand the additional options for the newsfeed. Select how often Twitterfeed should check the newsfeed for new updates, whether Twitterfeed should post thumbnails to your wall along with new posts, and whether your Facebook posts should have posting prefixes such as "News Post" to let your Facebook friends know the status update is from a newsfeed.

    • 6

Click the "Continue to Step 2" button beneath the form when you have finished customizing the way your feed posts to your Facebook page.

    • 7

Click "Facebook" in the Available Services section.

    • 8

Click the "Connect With Facebook" button. A pop-up window opens, prompting you to allow Twitterfeed to connect to your Facebook account. Click the "Allow" button to give Twitterfeed this permission and close the pop-up window.

    • 9

Click the "Create Service" button at the bottom of the form.

    • 10

Click the "All Done!" button at the bottom of the "Active Services" page. Your newsfeed begins publishing to your Facebook account immediately according to the schedule you set.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add Twitter to your active services and automatically post the same newsfeed to your Twitter account as well. Simply click the "Twitter" link in the Active Services page and follow the on-screen instructions to give Twitterfeed permission to post to your Twitter account.
