Some dishwasher repairs require you to remove the dishwasher.

When performing repairs on your dishwasher, it is sometimes necessary to remove the dishwasher from the dishwasher cavity below your counter top. Removing the dishwasher requires you to not only remove the anchors securing the dishwasher into position, but also to remove the water inlet line and drain line. Additionally, you must disconnect the conduit cable from the dishwasher's terminal block, which supplies power to the appliance. Once these connections are disconnected, you can pull the dishwasher out of the cavity. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off the dishwasher breaker to cut power to the dishwasher.

      Turn off the dishwasher water supply valve, located under the kitchen sink.

      Remove the screws from the lower access panel, below the dishwasher door. Remove the lower access panel.

      Remove the water supply line using an adjustable wrench from the water inlet valve, located on the left-side of the dishwasher. Place a towel below the line to catch any water remaining in the line.

      Remove the screw securing the terminal block cover, located on the right-side of the dishwasher. The terminal block cover has several warning stickers affixed to its front. Remove the terminal block cover.

      Untwist the wire nuts securing the wires in the terminal block to disconnect the wires. Loosen the grounding screw and remove the bare copper ground wire from the terminal block.

      Loosen the strain relief nut at the base of the terminal block and then pull the conduit cable through the block to remove.

      Remove the clamp connecting the dishwasher drain hose to the sink or garbage disposal. Pull the drain hose off of the inlet and feed it through the dishwasher cabinet.

      Open the dishwasher door and remove the screws securing the appliance to the underside of the counter.

    • 10

      Turn the front leveling legs counterclockwise, making sure they touch the ground.

    • 11

      Pull the dishwasher away from the cabinets and remove.
