How to Make Paper Mache Dry Faster

Paper mache is a fun art medium for children and adults alike. The process involves using layers of wet paper or other materials to create art. Designs can be flat or three-dimensional, depending on the vision of the artist. Although more complicated paper mache projects take time, even basic designs require a lot of time to dry. The project has to be completely dry before the artist starts painting it. There are a few simple ways to speed up the drying process.

Things You'll Need

• Fan
• Blow dryer
• Cookie sheet

Instructions

1. Place the paper mache art on a flat surface in a well-ventilated area. Alternatively, place the paper mache object in front of an open window in direct sunlight or outdoors in the sun.

2. Place the paper mache object on a table. Turn on a large fan and direct the air flow toward the paper mache.

3. Turn the oven on to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Leave the oven on for 20 minutes, then turn it off. Place the paper mache art on a cookie sheet or oven-safe tray and put it in the oven. Leave the paper mache in the oven for one hour.

4. Turn a blow dryer on to its lowest setting. Direct the nozzle toward the paper mache and dry all areas of the art project.
