How to Make Teflon Tape Stick
Teflon tape is a thin, white tape used in plumbing repair. It is used to seal water, air and gas from leaking through threaded connections. Teflon tape comes in small rolls and is very silky in texture. It is self-adhesive and very easy to stick to various surfaces. No matter what type of pipe you are attaching the Teflon tape to, there are just a few quick tips to follow to ensure the Teflon tape will stick properly. Does this Spark an idea?

Clean off the pipe you will be covering with the Teflon tape. Wipe it down with a clean rag to remove any dirt, grease and other debris on the pipe.

Wrap the Teflon tape over the threaded end of the pipe. Cover the threads with a couple of layers of the tape, going over the thread three or four times. Do not overlap on the edge of the pipe or it could cause clogs in the pipes.

Continue wrapping down the pipe. Overlap each layer of Teflon tape halfway over the previous layer and continue down the pipe until all the threads have been covered. Wrap the tape around at least five times. Keep the tension on the tape with your index and middle fingers so it is pulled into the threads.

Cut off the tape at the ends with a pair of scissors or break it off by hand. Go over all of the tape with your hands. Press down firmly on the tape and verify it is secure to the pipe. Repeat the process for all of the other tape you need to go over the pipes.
