How to Design a Clothes Website for Kids
A well-designed clothes website for children can make it stand out from the competition and help generate more sales. The website should be well organized, quick to load and easy to navigate.

1
Choose a theme. Is the website for boys or girls? Does it target a particular age group or geographic location? Choose colors that evoke the mood you're after. Pale colors are popular for infants; primary colors work well for toddlers. No matter what colors you choose, keep the design clean and simple. If there is too much going on it will be distracting and take the focus away from the clothes.

2
Organize the merchandise. Make it easy for customers find what they want by letting them search by gender, age group and type of clothing. Include two photos, front and back, of each item and detailed descriptions that include brand name, material, washing instructions and price. The photos should be large with high resolution. Professional photography works best.

Encourage more shopping. Suggest related items such as a top to go with a pair of jeans, or gloves to go with a sweater. Offer incentives to encourage customers to buy more such as including free shipping or free gift wrapping with a minimum purchase.
-
4
Include policies on refunds and exchanges prominently on your website. State the policies again during the check-out process. Dealing with returns and refunds can be an expensive and time-consuming accounting nightmare.

Tips & Warnings
Keep things simple. Don't clutter your website with music or games. Though these types of things might keep customers entertained, they are likely to distract them from shopping.
Consider selling on eBay or other similar sites first, to get used to e-commerce and to get better handle on shipping costs before investing on your own website.
Research other childrens clothing websites to see what you like and what you don't. You can always change the design, but it's best to keep things consistent to make it easier for repeat customers.
