How to Make a Star Trek Admiral's Uniform
This Halloween, or for the next Star Trek convention, be a Star Trek Admiral. There have been many Admiral uniforms throughout the history of the various Star Trek shows. Admiral uniforms tend to be dressier than other uniforms often having more gold braiding or piping. While some of the uniforms were fairly ornate, the ones from some of the later episodes were the simplest, and therefore one of the easiest, to recreate.

1
Lay the t-shirt on a flat work surface. Cut a v-shape in the center of the front of the shirt, in the collar area only. Use the needle and thread to finish the edges so they do not fray.
-
2
Use the fabric marker and make a straight line across the chest, just above the armpit height of the shirt. Make diagonal line from the center point of the v to the right side of the chest, until it reaches the previously drawn line. Continue the straight line onto the sleeves of the shirt, making a wide v-shape that reaches three inches down the sleeve. Do this for both sleeves. Continue the straight line across the back of the shirt. Mark a line four inches up from the hem of each sleeve.

3
Use the black fabric paint to follow the marker line across the back of the shirt and onto the sleeves. This paint line is 1/2-inch wide. Let dry. Turn the shirt over, and finish the black line across the front and the rest of the sleeves.

4
Use the gold paint and follow the lines near the hems of the sleeves. Do the back first, and let dry. On the front, start painting the left side of the v in the collar, beginning at the base. Follow the line of the collar all the way around, and continue following the diagonal line made earlier. Where the line meets the black paint, continue with gold though the black line, and make another diagonal line to the hemline, ending in the center of the hemline. Paint the other half of the lines on the sleeves. These paint lines are also 1/2-inch wide.
-
5
Paint four gold circles above the black line next to where the gold line crosses the black one. Paint the gold Star Trek insignia below the black line on the side opposite the circles. The insignia goes over the heart when the shirt is worn. Let the paint dry completely.

6
Keeping the shirt tucked in makes the outfit appear professional. Put on the costume. Tuck the shirt into the pants and put on the black shoes.

Tips & Warnings
Buy a t-shirt that is a size too small, as the uniform shirts are close fitting.
Find slim cut pants that are high waisted for a more authentic look.
