Calculating the arrival of a date in the future will allow you to prepare for it. Important dates in the future can include a monthly rent payment, a birthday and a wedding. If you do not know how much time you have until that future date arrives you may be ill prepared when time comes. Instructions

    • 1

      Choose a future date.

    • 2

Determine the current date by looking at a calendar or consulting with a friend or family member. Many television news stations display the current date in the corner of the screen during their broadcast. You can also consult a newspaper which usually displays the date on the front page.

Count the number of days that exist between the current date and the date in the future. You can use a calendar and a calculator. If the future date is years in the future, consider the presence of leap years when an extra day is added to the normal 365-day calendar. Leap years occur every four years. An example of a year that was 366 days long was the year 2000.
