With Skype software, you can call other Skype users for free using your computer no matter where they are. And Skype's free video-calling feature enables you to talk with people face to face through your computer. If you are looking to reinstall Skype because it's not running appropriately or because you want to upgrade to the latest version, you can accomplish this swiftly without losing your previous contact list or settings.

Step 1

Navigate to the Skype support page titled "How do I uninstall Skype?" (see Resources).

Step 2

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "here" link displayed within the sentence that says, "You can reinstall Skype by downloading the latest version here."

Step 3

Stand by while you are redirected to the reinstall download page and click on the "Download now" button displayed within the blue box with the heading the reads "Feel closer with voice and video calls." Skype will offer you the download that is compatible with your operating system; therefore, you will not have to select the operating system you use.

Step 4

Wait for the "Opening SkypeSetup.exe" box to pop up on your screen, and click on the "Save File" button in the box to download the software.

Step 5

Click on the downloaded file on your screen, and when the Skype installation wizard is displayed follow the personalized prompts to finish the installation process. Once the installation process is finished, a window saying, "Thank you for installing Skype" will be displayed on your screen. Click the "Finish" tab on that window and you will be finished reinstalling Skype.
