Henna is commonly applied to the palm of the hands and feet.

Made from the dried and ground leaves of the henna plant, you can use mixed henna paste to dye your hair, skin and nails. Historically, the application of henna is thought to ward off evil and bring the wearer good luck. As a result, henna is often applied before childbirth and marriage. You can mix and apply henna on your own or have a henna artist do the application for you. If you mix more henna paste than you need, you can store the extra for later use. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Spoon your mixed henna paste into a glass jar. The jar should have a lid so that it is an airtight container. Once you get all of the henna into the jar, put the lid on it.

    • 2

Cover the exterior of the jar with aluminum foil. Covering the jar makes it lightproof, which is important because mixed henna loses its dye potency when exposed to light.

    • 3

Insert the jar of covered henna into your freezer. If you put it into the freezer soon after you have mixed it, the paste will store for six months without any quality loss. Simply thaw when you are ready to use it again.
