A Gameshark is an electronic device designed to allow users to enter cheat codes into their favorite video games. These games literally alter the mechanics of the game play for the benefit of the player. You can unlock additional characters and levels, give yourself infinite lives and do a number of other things by using a Gameshark for Nintendo's Gameboy Color hand-held gaming system. And it is as simple as plugging it in and turning it on.

Plug your Gameshark device into your Gameboy Color the same way you would any normal game title.

Plug your Gameboy Color game into the Gameshark device. Make sure it is inserted securely.

Turn on your Gameboy Color by sliding the "Power" switch into its "On" position.

Enter in the cheat code you wish to use. There are a few different ways you can do this. The Gameshark for the Gameboy Color will come preloaded with hundreds of codes for the majority of the most popular titles on the system. You can navigate through the Gameshark's main menu and choose one you'd like. In the event that you cannot find the right code to fit your needs, browse the Internet and try to find more for your game title. Sites like GameFAQs.com have cheat codes (as well as general codes and level walk-throughs) for virtually any game title you can think of.

Use the Gameshark's main menu to load the video game. Your video game will begin to play with the cheat codes you have selected enabled. You can turn them off if need be by returning to the Gameshark's main menu.

Warnings

If you're entering in a code from a website, make sure you enter it in properly. Entering in an improper code and then enabling it can cause damage to your save-game file. You don't want to lose all of your hard work just because you wanted to cheat a bit.
