How to Put Crystal Prisms on Leather

Adding crystal prisms to a plain piece of leather gives it style.

The gleam of crystal prisms as they catch the sunlight can be captivating, as little flashes of light reflect upon the surfaces around them. Adding crystal prisms to leather can spice up a belt, jacket or wallet, providing a bit of flair that's bound to attract attention. You can add these small sparking objects to a piece of any type of leather with the right materials.

Things You'll Need

• Crystal prisms
• Permanent marker
• Fine sandpaper
• Strong craft adhesive
• Wood craft stick
• Tweezers

Instructions

1. Plan the location of the crystal prisms on the leather piece. Do a test run by placing the objects on the leather without any adhesive and make any adjustments to the appearance until it meets your liking.

2. Pick each crystal prism up and make a small dot with a permanent marker on the surface of the leather to mark the desired locations.

3. Roughen up the area where you'll apply the crystal prisms by lightly sanding with fine sandpaper.

4. Add a strong craft adhesive to the back of the crystal prism. Use a wooden craft stick to spread the adhesive so it covers the back of the prism.

5. Pick up the crystal prism with tweezers to avoid touching the glue. Press the prism to the leather. Repeat the gluing process until all the crystal prisms are attached. Allow the glue to dry for at least 24 hours before handling the leather object.

Tips & Warnings

• Line the crystal prisms up in a row or form shapes with a group of the prisms such as a star or heart.

• Paint designs onto the surface of the crystal prisms to add color and visual interest.
