How to Reset a Dell Inspiron 1100

Resetting your Dell Inspiron 1100 computer is a simple process thanks to the System Restore feature on this laptop. This utility restores your computer to a previous "restore point" by reverting to settings that were established at the date of the restore point. This feature is helpful if a device's driver causes errors, as the tool restores prior settings without erasing your documents. Once restored, you also have the ability to undo the system restore if the problem is not resolved.

Instructions

1. Save all unsaved documents or files, and shut down any open program prior to going to the Start Menu.

2. Click "Start" on the desktop and click "All Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools" and "System Restore" to launch the System Restore utility.

3. Click the checkbox next to "Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time" and click "Next."

4. Click a calendar date in the calendar of the Select a Restore Point window. Click "Next" and click the restore point you wish to use to restore your computer.

5. Click "Next" and wait for the computer to restore the system. The computer restarts itself once the process is finished.

6. Click "OK" after the system restore process is complete and the computer restarts.
