Use a measuring cup that is made for liquids. A liquid measuring cup is different than one made for dry foods. It is more accurate for liquids, and it's clear, which makes it easier to read.

Add the liquids to the measuring cup slowly. Check the amount periodically.

Look at the measuring device periodically as you add the liquid. Get eye level with the measuring device so that you can accurately read the liquid line.

Note the line to which you want to fill the measuring device, such as the ¼-cup line or the fill-cup line. The measurements can also be written in ounces.
