How to Fix Explorer.exe on a Compaq Presario 5000

If your "explorer.exe" file has become corrupt on your Compaq Presario computer, you may find that your system is unstable and that your taskbar temporarily disappears and then reappears again. Instructions

1. Click "Start" and click "All Programs" to open the list of installed programs on your computer.

4. Type "sfc /scannow" in the window without the quotation marks. Note the space after "sfc." The process will begin to analyze the system files and repair any files that have been damaged.
