How to Webcam Chat on Yahoo

The Internet has made it possible for distant friends and loved ones to communicate in real time without having to pay for long-distance phone calls. If you are using Yahoo! Messenger, you can chat over the Internet using an instant message, voice chat and even video chat. Using a webcam, you can video conference with your friends and family from anywhere in the world free. Yahoo! allows you to connect your webcam to your computer and share it with anyone who is added to your Yahoo! Messenger.

Instructions

1. Connect your webcam to your computer using the instructions in the webcam's user manual.

2. Install any software included with the webcam.

3. Open Yahoo! Messenger and sign in using your Yahoo! ID and password.

4. Click the "Messenger" button at the top of your Yahoo! Messenger and click "My Webcam" from the drop-down list.

5. Click the "Actions" button at the top of your Yahoo! Messenger and click "More Actions."

6. Click "Invite to View My Webcam" and double-click the name of the person that you want to invite from the dialog box that appears on your screen.

Tips & Warnings

• To chat with a party viewing your webcam, double-click the party's name on your Yahoo! Messenger to open a chat window.

• To request to view someone's webcam, right-click the party's name on your Yahoo! Messenger and click "More Actions." Click "View Webcam."

• Install a microphone on your computer to voice chat while chatting with your webcam.
