How to Make a Custom Made Display Case for Figurines
Display your figurine collection with a custom case. By making your own case, you know that your figurines will fit perfectly and be displayed to their best advantage. It also means that you get to choose how the case looks, and finish it in a way that either matches or enhances the current style of the room it will be in. This project can be done in a weekend with materials found at many home improvement and hardware stores.

1
Measure the figurine that will be displayed. Determine how much of a base to have for your figurine. It is usually a good idea to have at least an inch of open space on the base. Half of this extra space will be used by the walls of the case, so plan accordingly.
-
2
Cut a piece of lumber to the size you determined for the base. For instance, if your figurine is 10 inches high and 4 inches at its widest point, the base would need to be at least 6 inches square.

3
Mark the acrylic glass according to earlier measurements. Using the above example, you would make four pieces at 11 by 5 inches. You would also need one piece that measured 5 inches square for the top.
-
4
Cut the acrylic glass with the jigsaw. Leave the protective film on the acrylic glass during cutting. Do not cut too slowly, or the plastic could melt.
-
5
Use sandpaper to smooth the edges of the plastic. This will give the edges a clean, finished look.
-
6
Spread some epoxy along two of the longer edges of the acrylic glass to form the first corner of your box walls. Join the edges at a 90-degree angle. Use the tape to hold the walls in place while they dry. Make another corner of the box with the other two pieces while the first ones are drying.
-
7
Epoxy the two sections together, and use more tape to hold them in place. Epoxy the lid onto the open box. Let the epoxy cure and dry according to the manufacturer's directions.
-
8
Remove the tape. Place the figurine on the base and cover with the acrylic glass box.

Tips & Warnings
You can use a bit of alcohol to remove stray marker lines on the acrylic glass. Apply alcohol to a rag first, as it could damage the plastic if poured on and left to sit.
Paint or varnish the wooden base as desired.
Always use protective eye equipment when using a saw.
